8U PROGRAM

Program Overview

  • This is a bridge from the Club Development Program (6-7U) and will prepare players for competitive soccer at 9U and beyond
  • There will be heavy emphasis on developing each individual's technical skills (dribbling, passing, receiving, ball striking). The ball will be at the players feet as much as possible
  • 1v1, 2v1, 2v2 activities will be the focus of the sessions where players need to manipulate the ball and make quick decisions
  • There will be some introduction to the "tactical" side where players will learn positions, in-game moments, and what it takes to be part of a team

Program Information

  • Players will be placed into a large training group (by gender)
  • Broken into groups of 7-10 players for training sessions to make for productive, manageable groups.
  • These will not be the same groups every session. This will allow players to work with other players in the age group and other coaches
  • Training will be Staff Coach Led. The younger players are the future of the club so we are placing an importance on having qualified, high level coaches working with the groups
  • Training will predominantly follow a Play-Train-Play model

Jamboree Information

  • Players will participate in the TCSL-Fives event and/or In-House Jamborees against other local programs.
  • EPSC Teams will be formed before each event based on player availability and making competitive groups
  • There will be 3 Jamborees throughout the season. Each Jamboree will consist of each team playing at least 2 games. Teams should expect to play 2 games within a 2 or 3 hour block on each of the match day. Times will generally be in the 1-7PM range, on Sundays.
  • 5v5 Games (4 outfield players and 1 goalkeeper)
  • Score does not matter!! Development first.
